When You Need to Remove Pages from a PDF

Removing pages from PDFs is one of the most common document tasks:

How to Delete Pages from a PDF Online

Using the free PDF split and page removal tool:

  • Upload your PDF — drag and drop or click to browse. The tool displays all pages as thumbnails.
  • Select pages to remove — click individual pages to mark them for deletion. Click and drag to select ranges. Use the "Select all" and "Deselect" options for bulk operations.
  • Preview your selection — see exactly which pages will be removed before committing.
  • Download the result — the PDF with selected pages removed is ready immediately.

  • Alternatively, use the split tool to specify which page ranges to *keep*, which achieves the same result — you specify pages 1-5 and 10-15 to keep, implicitly removing pages 6-9.

    Removing a Range of Pages

    For removing a continuous range (e.g., pages 5 through 12 from a 20-page document):

  • Use the split tool and specify two output ranges: "1-4" and "13-20"
  • Download both parts
  • Use the merge tool to combine them back in order

  • This produces a clean result without the middle section. For large documents with many ranges to remove, the page selection interface in the split tool is more efficient.

Delete Blank Pages from Scanned PDFs

Scanned documents frequently include blank pages inserted by duplex (double-sided) scanning — the scanner adds a blank page after each single-sided original page. These blank pages waste space and look unprofessional when shared.

    To remove them:

  • Upload to the page removal tool
  • Identify blank pages (usually obvious from the thumbnail view)
  • Select all blank pages and remove in one operation

  • For large scanned documents, a visual thumbnail scan to find blank pages is faster than guessing page numbers.

    Removing Pages vs Redacting Pages

Removing pages deletes them permanently from the document. If the sensitive content is on a page that also contains non-sensitive content you want to keep, use the redaction tool instead. Redaction blacks out specific text or areas on a page while keeping the page in the document.

For example: if page 7 of a contract has a salary figure you want to remove and other terms you want to keep, redact the salary figure. If page 7 contains only confidential information you want to completely exclude, remove the page.
