Free PDF Splitter
Split PDF files by page ranges or extract individual pages for free. No signup required.
About Free PDF Splitter
Free PDF Splitter extracts pages from a PDF — split by range, by individual pages, or export every page as a separate file. The output options matter: we support downloading individual PDF ranges as single files, downloading every page as its own PDF in a ZIP, or extracting a subset of pages into a new single PDF. The ZIP encoder runs natively in the browser (no external library), so the download triggers immediately when splitting completes. Once you have the pieces you need, use our PDF merger to recombine them in any order.
Smallpdf's free splitter limits you to 2 tasks per day and requires signup after the first. iLovePDF uploads to servers. Ours is unlimited, signup-free, and runs entirely client-side — backed by the same extraction engine as our PDF toolkit. The drag-select page picker lets you click individual page thumbnails to include them in the output — more visual than typing "1,3,5-7" into a text field, though we support both. After splitting, you may also want to compress the resulting PDFs before emailing or uploading them.
How to Use Free PDF Splitter
- Step 1: Upload your PDF — drag it in or click to browse
- Step 2: Choose split mode: By Range (type pages), By Page (select thumbnails), or All Pages (ZIP of every page)
- Step 3: Enter the page range or click the pages you want in the visual picker
- Step 4: Click Split — output is ready in seconds for most files
- Step 5: Download the single extracted PDF or the ZIP containing all pieces

How We Compare
Compared to desktop alternatives like Adobe Acrobat Pro (starting at $19.99/month), Smallpdf ($12/month for unlimited), or iLovePDF ($9/month Premium), PDF AI Tools delivers comparable quality at $0 for the core feature set. We skip the subscription friction by processing most operations directly in your browser with WebAssembly — no server infrastructure costs to pass on to users. Our AI features (summarization, chat, OCR) use a pay-as-you-go backend that keeps your total cost well under $5/month even for power users.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I extract non-consecutive pages?
Yes. In the range field, type pages separated by commas: "1, 3, 5-9, 12" extracts pages 1, 3, 5 through 9, and 12 into a single PDF in that order.
Can I split a PDF into equal parts by page count?
Yes — use the "Every N pages" mode to divide a 60-page PDF into 10-page chunks automatically. Each chunk downloads as a separate PDF in a ZIP.
Will the split PDF preserve bookmarks and annotations?
Bookmarks that point to retained pages are preserved. Bookmarks pointing to removed pages are dropped. Annotations and form fields on included pages are preserved.
Is there a file size or page count limit?
No hard limit. Files up to 200 MB and 500+ pages work fine. For very large PDFs on mobile, split in smaller batches if you run into memory issues.
